System Requirements

IssueView Client

• The IssueView client software is a Win32 program that can be installed on each user's computer.
• Operating Systems: Windows XP (Home and Pro), 2000, 2003, Vista
• Hard Disk space: 10 MB
• Processor: Intel Pentium 300MHz or higher, or similar processor
• Memory requirements: 128 MB RAM or more
• MDAC 2.5 or greater (included with XP sp2)
• Microsoft JVM 5.0.3809 or greater (included with our Setup)

NetSetup Folder

To facilitate installing the IssueView client on multiple end-user's machines, the Setup program by default creates a simplified client-only setup, and shares the folder in which it is placed. Your end-users can connect to this shared folder to launch the client setup, and will be automatically configured to connect to your server.

Database

We strongly recommend hosting your IssueView database on SQL Server. If you do not have your own SQL Server, you can download and install our 'Full' version, which includes MSDE. MSDE is a run-time version of SQL Server, which is optimized for up to 8 concurrent users. Performance will depend on end-user load and the hardware's capabilities.

We test IssueView on a 3.0 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, with 2 GB RAM, with excellent results.  But it will be fine on any machine that meets the SQL Server requirements (Pentiumn III, 600 MHz, 500 MB RAM).  In general, IssueView places relatively light loads on a SQL Server. The most important performance consideration is network latency. Response time for viewing the details of an individual issue varies from 500ms (half a second) on a 100MB LAN, to 1500ms (one and one half seconds) over a WAN with a DSL or Cable connection.

Customer Supplied SQL Server:

• Microsoft SQL Server 7.0 or higher (MSDE, 2000, Desktop Edition, 2005, etc.)
• The SQL Server must support 'SQL Server and Windows' Authentication. IssueView can be configured to work in an Integrated Authentication environment.
• Installation requires an account with 'sa' permissions
• Hard Disk Space: At least 50 MB, 1 GB recommended

 

IssueView With MSDE (IV50MSDE.exe with MSDE):

• Operating Systems: Vista, XP, 2000, 2003
• Hard Disk Space: At least 75 MB, 1 GB recommended
• Installation requires an account with Administrator rights

 

Microsoft Access

File server with sufficient space for your IssueView database. The empty database file is about 1MB. We suggest a file server with at least 10MB free space.

If you are hosting the database on an NTFS volume, all users need Read/Write/Modify rights on the folder that contains the database.

 

IssueView - Web, .NET Web Interface

• IIS 5.0 or above, with the .NET Framework Installed
• MDAC 2.8
• Hard Disk Space: 10 MB
• If you are using an Access database, the ASPNET Anonymous account must have Read/Write/Modify rights on the folder that contains the database
